Fur Lined Volcanoes is a piedmont rock band that formed in the Spring of 2000. Hailing from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this group is at the top of their game with the release of their fourth full-length CD!

Drop What's Heavy is nine songs of rock and roll stripped down to the essentials: vocals, electric guitars, bass and drums. Unlike previous releases, there are no guests on the CD...just the four members of the band.

The album was recorded in two days to avoid studio trickery and preserve the sound of a live performance. We used the old-school approach and recorded in Lee's basement.

There are eight songs about the need for change, vulnerable love, not taking things so seriously, etc....then there's Track #9.

Chilly Willy is an instrumental that tells the story of William H. Foster...the infamous drug dealer responsible for the birth of funk. The tune was recorded live just moments after the band heard the story for the first time.

Drop What's Heavy is a collection of songs that are fun to play and even more fun to hear. The album is an ode to music without pretense. Just homemade rock and roll to help get your mind off the heavy stuff.

This is the story behind track #9 on the CD.
